Cooked in sweet wine and garlic butter, served with fresh made bread. The unique focus in our kitchen is, we fuel both our oven and our grill with Maine hard wood. From grilled all natural salmon to prime New York strip steaks we have something that will satisfy everyone in your party.
"The Royal River Grill has always been one of my favorite restaurants because the food is fantastic and I love the menu. With the amazing new renovation, now the ambiance is one of my favorites too. The new look is so chic...yet so comfortable and it really maximized the great water views. This will top my list as the place to come with family, friends and clients."

Meet the Executive Chef
Charles Smith, a native of Windham, ME, has been behind the stove since he was a teen, first flipping burgers and today as the Executive Chef at the Royal River Grill House. Charles’ formal training began when he worked at Fore Street Restaurant, as a dishwasher, and soon to be line cook, where he picked the mind of James Beard Award Winning Chef, Sam Hayward. His knowledge of the culinary world was expanded at the New England Culinary Institute where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts. Charles has worked at several different establishments throughout the years, including John’s Island Club in Florida to back at Fore Street Restaurant as a Sous Chef for several years.
Charles is passionate about providing guests with fresh local produce and meat. As a part of this he believes in making things from scratch every day and creating connections with the local farmers in Maine. His other passion in the kitchen is butchery, where he loves to be able to use and educate people about the delicacies of using everything from head to tail on an animal. This philosophy influences many of the items on the menu as well as the nightly specials.
